Marco Island Charter Middle School is seeking a dynamic, innovative, and student-centered Art Teacher to join our dedicated faculty. The ideal candidate will be a creative visionary capable of inspiring middle school students to explore their artistic potential while integrating contemporary educational trends. As we continue to enhance our curriculum, we are looking for an educator who can bridge traditional fine arts with STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) initiatives, helping students see the connection between creativity and real-world problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

• Instructional Excellence: Design and implement a comprehensive art curriculum for grades 6–8 that covers various mediums, including drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture, and digital media.

• STEAM Integration: Collaborate with core subject teachers to develop interdisciplinary projects that highlight the "A" in STEAM, fostering innovation and critical thinking.

• Classroom Environment: Maintain a safe, organized, and inspiring studio environment that encourages experimentation and respects diverse artistic expressions.

• Student Engagement: Adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of all learners, providing differentiated instruction and fostering a lifelong appreciation for the arts.

• Exhibition & Community: Organize and curate school-wide art showcases, participate in local community art events, and maintain a rotating gallery of student work throughout the campus.

• Professional Growth: Participate in faculty meetings, professional development workshops, and school-wide initiatives to support the mission and vision of MICMS.

Qualifications

• Certification: Valid Florida Educator’s Certificate in Art (K–12 or 6–12).

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Art Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred).

• Experience: Previous experience teaching middle school students is preferred.

• Skills: * Proficiency in traditional art techniques and exposure to digital art tools/software.

  • Strong classroom management skills tailored to the middle school developmental stage.

  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with parents, colleagues, and community stakeholders.
