Position Overview

Marco Island Charter Middle School is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Middle School Math Teacher to join our high-performing instructional team. We are seeking an educator who can demystify complex concepts, foster a growth mindset, and show students how mathematics serves as a foundational tool for innovation.

As we continue to integrate STEAM across our curriculum, our ideal candidate is someone who doesn't just teach formulas but encourages students to apply mathematical reasoning to real-world engineering and scientific challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Instructional Leadership: Deliver engaging, standards-aligned math instruction for grades 6–8, including Pre-Algebra and Algebra 1 Honors.

• Data-Driven Instruction: Use formative and summative assessment data to differentiate instruction, providing targeted support for struggling students and enrichment for advanced learners.

• STEAM Collaboration: Partner with science, art, and technology teachers to create interdisciplinary projects that highlight the practical applications of mathematics.

• Technology Integration: Effectively utilize classroom technology and digital math platforms to enhance student engagement and track progress.

• Classroom Management: Build a positive, respectful classroom culture that encourages mathematical discourse and collaborative problem-solving.

• Professional Engagement: Participate in grade-level team meetings, school improvement initiatives, and parent-teacher conferences to support student success.

Qualifications

• Certification: Valid Florida Educator’s Certificate in Mathematics (Grades 5–9 or 6–12).

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Secondary Education, or a related field.

• Experience: Previous experience teaching middle school math is preferred; experience with Florida B.E.S.T. Standards is a plus.

• Skills: * Ability to break down abstract concepts into digestible, relatable lessons.

  • Strong organizational skills and a commitment to meeting the diverse needs of middle school learners.

  • Effective communication skills for building partnerships with families and colleagues.

Employment Requirements

• Background Screening: In accordance with Florida Statutes, all MICMS employees are required to complete a Level 2 fingerprint-based background check and clear all screening requirements prior to employment.
