Ivy Hawn Charter School of the Arts is seeking a creative and collaborative Puppetry and Costume Design Teacher to join our performing arts faculty. This position blends visual arts, theatre production, and hands-on design, guiding students in the creative process of bringing characters and stories to life through puppetry and costume design.
The ideal candidate is passionate about arts education, enjoys working with students across grade levels, and values project-based, creative instruction in a collaborative school environment.
Teach puppetry and costume design through engaging, hands-on instruction.
Guide students in designing, constructing, and performing with puppets.
Teach foundational costume design concepts including materials, construction techniques, and character development through costume.
Supervise students in safe use of sewing tools, crafting materials, and design equipment.
Maintain organization and inventory of costumes, puppets, fabrics, and design materials.
Collaborate with performing arts staff to support school performances and productions.
Assist with costume preparation, fittings, and backstage production needs when appropriate.
Encourage creativity, collaboration, and artistic expression through performance-based learning.
Support school-wide arts events, showcases, and performances as directed by administration.
Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Theatre, Costume Design, Visual Arts, or a related field.
Eligible for or holds a valid Florida Educator Certificate.
Experience in theatre production, costume design, puppetry, or related creative fields preferred.
Strong classroom management and student engagement strategies.
Knowledge of costume construction techniques and design processes.
Experience working with creative materials and fabrication tools.
Ability to collaborate with performing arts staff and production teams.
Commitment to arts integration and student-centered learning.
